The tyre earns little. The bay earns the rest
A tyre bought at 178,000 and sold at 210,000 leaves you about 32,000, and a customer who has rung four shops will find the one selling it at 195,000. There is little room to trade in the tyre itself.
Fitting, balancing and alignment behave differently. They cost you labour and a machine you have already bought, so nearly the whole price is margin. Which is why so many centres throw them in to win the tyre sale.
PesaScope holds tyres as products with a count per size, and fitting, balancing and alignment as services with their own prices. One sale carries both, and the reports keep them apart.
One customer, one ticket
- Find the sizeThe size is the product. 195/65R15 has its own count, its own cost and its own price, and stock comes down when the sale is saved.
- Add the fittingFitting and balancing goes on the same sale as a service line, with a standard price you can change when a job is bigger.
- Add alignment only if it was doneAlignment is a separate service at its own price. It is the only way to find out how many you gave away this month.
- Take the money as it comesCash, Mobile Money, or part now and part on collection. Whatever is unpaid is recorded against the customer.
Sizes and jobs a tyre centre sets up first
Pick "Tyre centre" at sign-up and this list is already there. The sizes you carry become products with counts; the bay work becomes services.
Every size is its own product with its own count. Fifteen sizes is normal, and separating them is how you learn that the 15-inch shelf turns over weekly while the 18s do not.
A week in the bay
The bay brought in 990,000 and the week's overheads were 950,000. The fitting and the alignment paid the rent, the wages and the power; the tyre margin is the profit.
What PesaScope will not do for you
There is no booking calendar. If a customer wants four tyres fitted at nine on Saturday, that lives on your phone — PesaScope has no appointment diary and no bay scheduling.
There is no history against a number plate either. It will not tell you which tyres a car left on last year, and it does not track DOT codes or serial numbers.
What it keeps is the customer. Every sale sits under their name with what was fitted and what was paid, which usually settles a warranty call. That is a customer record, not a vehicle record.
Where a tyre centre leaks
- Fitting thrown in for freeEvery free fitting is a line you did not charge for. Record it at what you charged, even when that is zero, and count them at month end.
- The size nobody is asking forStock on Hand values each size at cost. Four 18-inch tyres bought a year ago are 800,000 shillings standing against the wall.
- Punctures done off the booksSmall cash jobs are the easiest to forget and the fastest to add up. Recording each takes seconds.
- Tyres that leave without a saleAdjust stock with a reason — Damaged, Stolen, Transfer, Correction — logged with a name and date.

Questions tyre centres ask
Can it book customers into the fitting bay?
No. There is no appointment calendar and no bay scheduling. Bookings stay on your phone; the app records the job once it is done.
Can one bill hold the tyres and the fitting?
Yes. Products and services go on the same sale, so four tyres, the balancing and an alignment are one ticket.
Do I really need a separate product for every size?
Yes, and it is the point. Each size carries its own count, cost and price, which is how you learn which shelf turns over.
Sometimes I discount the fitting. Can I still record it?
Yes. A service has a standard price you can change on the sale, so it is recorded at what you actually charged — including nothing.
Does it track which tyres went on which car?
No. There is no number-plate history and no DOT or serial tracking. The sale sits under the customer's name, not the vehicle.
How do I know a size is about to run out?
Set a low-stock level on each size. It turns red on the stock list and shows on the dashboard.
